Ain't No Sunshine - Will Young

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And she always gone too long anytime she goes away

Wonder this time where she's gone
Wonder if she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Anytime she goes away

I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, know, know, know, know
I know, I know
Hey I ought to
I ought to leave her alone
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Only darkness everyday
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Anytime she goes away

Zire 71 Photos

Oooh!! I figured out how to put pictures here. As a test, I'm putting some of my favorite photos taken with my Zire 71 camera. Pretty neat what a simple camera can capture, eh?

Project Paper

I'm supposed to write a paper, titled "Types of tooling, their optimization, simplification and rationalization to improve cost."

What the....?

Apparently Sex and the City aired its two final episodes last night in America. How sad. :-( F.R.I.E.N.D.S. too is ending this season. Now what else should I look forward to?

Research & Case Methodology

Today was the second week of the new module. I didn't go last week..suffered from chronic laziness. Thank God for giving me kind, thoughtful and reliable classmates, who took extra handouts for me last week.

I learned today that there's a whole process for coming up with a corporate strategy. All this while I thought only the SWOT analysis mattered. No way!! Here's the complete process (as complete as I can remember, I'm too lazy to get my notes):
  1. Gather company info

  2. Conduct SEPT analysis (Social, Economic, Political, Technological)

  3. Conduct SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats)

  4. Conduct IFEM calculation (Internal Factors Environmental Analysis - average calculation for Strengths and Weaknesses)

  5. Conduct EFEM calculation (External Factors Environmental Analysis - average calculation for Opportunities and Threats)

  6. Diagnose the company's situation

  7. Realign company's vision and mission

  8. Identify the various stakeholders, their expectations and level of power they have

  9. Design objectives - these must be achievable, realistic and measureable

  10. Design strategies
That's it! With an example, it would be much clearer, but...nahhh!! Haha.

In other news, Cookie and Alf seem to be much stronger today, although they seem to be doping around a lot. Alf's left eye has got the third eyelid showing now, which means that I need to get her some eyedrops to fix it, a.k.a. more money coming out of my wallet. :-|

Spaying your pets...the humane thing to do?

I went to DBKL-SPCA in Setapak today, to spay my two other cats, Cookie and Alf. DBKL-SPCA really gives a good deal, I think. With the spaying, I also got a couple of cans of Science Diet A/D for cats after surgery, some antibiotics and multivitamins. All for RM65.00 per cat. Better than being charged between RM120-RM250 at a private clinic, and only getting some lame antibiotic pills as an after treatment...huh!!

I used to think that spaying or neutering is not a humane thing to do to an animal. (Spaying refers to the operation done on female cats, neutering refers to male cats). Anyway, I thought even cats deserve the right to reproduce. But, unlike humans, animals do not have a mind of their own, thus unable to control the number of times they reproduce. There is an enormous number of unwanted cats in the local animal shelters. Let's not even start thinking of the number of stray cats we see on the streets, all prone to being run over by vehicles and vulnerable to all sorts of diseases.

I did a lot of research before I decided to do my first spaying on Garam, the lost cat. Someone told me that it's a sin to neuter/spay your pet. I believed it until I saw an article in the SPCA website, where JAKIM, in July 2002, issued a "fatwa" that said, "All cats and dogs are allowed to be neutered or spayed in order to maintain the health and welfare of both the animals and the community." In this case, the community is urged to choose "the lesser of two evils". Thus I made a doctor's appointment to spay Garam, and today, Cookie and Alf.

For more information on how a female cat is spayed, click here. As for male cats, the procedure is much simpler, they basically just snip the testicles off the cat.

As I write this, Cookie and Alf are both lying in their beds, still unconcious from their recent operation. The doctor said they should wake up in about 2-3 hours. Yay!! Kitty...you're next.

Garam...where are you?

Isn't it amazing how you only feel regret after you lose something? How you wished you had studied harder, after walking out of an exam, without any confidence that you've done well. For me, when I realized Garam was missing, I wished I had installed a microchip on her. I thought of it, but decided against it, because back then I felt that Garam was "just a cat" I picked up on the street.

I've given up on looking for her. I hope she comes home soon. If not, I pray that she's in safe hands.

Garam...where are you?

My favorite cat, Garam, has been missing since two nights ago. Wonder where it's gone? I walked up and down the street in an attempt to find her, with no luck in the end. There were no signs of an accident. Nor did I hear her usual loud cry for help whenever she gets herself trapped somewhere. I have a bad feeling that some hateful person threw her in some remote location so she can't find her way home. I'm going to keep searching today...will I give up? I don't know. People say it's just a cat, but she's not "just a cat" to me.
